FAQS
Q. What is Aerial Extreme?
A. Well they do say that 'a picture paints a thousand words' so why not take a look at our gallery! Aerial Extreme's High Ropes Adventure Courses are a fun day out involving a series of challenging obstacles set at varying heights above the ground. You'll find yourself tackling fun obstacles such as rope bridges, scramble nets, zip wires, swinging logs and balance beams, plus many more!
Q. Who can do it?
A.
Everyone! No experience or skill is required, just a willingness to have fun. Once connected by our instructors to an overhead safety line, that’s it! You remain connected throughout the aerial journey allowing you to concentrate on having fun.
Aerial Extreme is a huge hit with adults, children, families, stags, hens, individuals, groups, schools and companies. All you need is a willingness to try something new and exhilarating! Some restrictions do apply (see below).
Aerial Extreme encourages everyone to have a go, and in the past we have enjoyed hosting groups with learning difficulties, amputees, deaf, blind and much more. Sadly the sheer nature of the activity stops us from allowing full disabled access however we would encourage you to phone 0845 652 1736 to find out more. You might be surprised.
We can cater for children from 1.1m (about 6yrs old) at all our sites except Stoke on Trent where the minimum height is 1.4m (about 10yrs old).
The maximum weight allowance at all of our courses is 120kg (19 stone).
Q. When are you open?
A.
Please go to 'Book Now' where you can see what dates we are open at your chosen course along with the timeslots available.
Q. Can children go round the course alone?
A.
Bedale & Manchester
At our Bedale & Manchester courses we require children between 1.1m and 1.4m to be accompanied on the course by an adult (18+). One adult can supervise up to 3 children below 1.4m.
All sites (except at Bedale & Manchester if the children are between 1.1m and 1.4m)
Children under 14 need an adult (18+) present on the site but they do not have to participate with the children, however it is so much more fun for them when their parents/guardians join in the fun too!
Anyone over 14 can come and have a go without adult supervision.
Q. Do I need to be fit?
A. You do need a degree of physical fitness but it's probably easier than you might think. It might reassure you to know that it is very rare for a person to stop because they weren't fit enough.
Q. Are there any restrictions?
A. If you have any concerns about medical conditions then please give us a call on 0845 652 1736 otherwise:
- Minimum height at Sheffield is 1.1m
- Minimum height at Knowsley & Milton Keynes is 1.1m (Junior Adventure Course) or 1.4m (Adventure Course)

- Unfortunately pregnant women are not able to take part in this activity
Please note that 1.1m is an average 6 year olds height and 1.4m is an average 10 year olds height
Q. I'm afraid of heights!
A. The courses are designed to help you build your confidence as you go… Aerial Extreme has helped some people to conquer their fear of heights. Why not try it – you might surprise yourself.
Q. What should I wear?
A. Leave the Jimmy Choos or CruzShuz at home or in the car. No flip flops, sandals or flippers are allowed on the course; trainers or ankle-supporting boots are perfect and will help with your footing on the course. For your enjoyment and safety, we recommend loose and comfortable clothing but skirts are a definite no no; you're going to be high in the air after all. Check out the weather forecast for the day and dress accordingly.
Q. When should I get there?
A. Set your alarm clock! It's important to arrive at least 15 minutes before your allocated time slot as the course may be busy. If you are late, we will do all we can to get you into another slot but we can't always promise this, especially on busy days, plus no refunds can be given. The best thing to do is leave in plenty of time.
Q. What if I fall?
A. Slips are quite common but don't worry, that's half the fun! If you loose your footing, then your safety line will prevent you from falling, allowing you to get back on and continue.
Q. How long does it take?
A. This varies dramatically depending on the course, your level of confidence, people in front of you and the number of people on the course. As a general guide however, we recommend you allow up to 45 minutes for the Junior Adventure Course and up to 2hrs for the Adventure Course. On quieter days, if you get around much quicker then we simply let you have another go…
Q. What happens in bad weather?
A. The great British weather likes to keep us on our toes but luckily Aerial Extreme is an all weather course and you can have just as much fun in the rain as you can in the sun. However, on very rare occasions we may need to close the course at short notice due to lightning or extremely high winds – we're extreme but not that extreme! Should this happen, we will contact you as soon as possible.
Q. What if I cannot complete the whole course?
A. Instructors will always be on hand to help you if you have difficulty on any part of the course. Unfortunately no refunds are given if you fail to complete the course.
Q. Do I need to book in advance?
A. We strongly recommend that you book in advance as we get very busy, especially during peak periods, such as weekends and school holidays.
Q. Is it safe?
A. In a word; yes! All you need to do is follow our simple training instructions and you'll have a safe and fun time. Before we set you off, you'll receive a full safety brief and then your off! The course does however, consist of fun but challenging obstacles so there is a risk of minor injury (e.g. bruises and scrapes).
Q. Can adults/older children do the Junior Adventure Course?
A. Yes, there is no upper height limit so adults can accompany children on the Junior course or anyone can do the Junior course if they want to start small and work their way up! The price is the same for adults and children on the Junior Course.
