Sinan Osman, General Manager for Aerial Extreme Ltd Willen Lake Milton Keynes, has successfully completed the Marathon des Sable, commonly billed as “The Hardest Footrace on Earth”.
The Marathon des Sable, or Marathon of the Sands, is no ordinary marathon. This grueling event attracted 750 competitors from all over the globe. It is a 150 mile, 7-day foot-race across the Sahara Desert of Morocco. That is the equivalent of 6 Marathons in 7 Days during which all the competitors are required to carry all their essential kit for the race: food, clothes, sleeping and cooking gear, survival equipment and other essentials. Sinan endured extreme weather conditions including blinding sandstorms and temperatures ranging from O°C at night up to 47°C on the dunes during the day.
Sinan did the event for one of his favourite charities, Children in Crisis, and to date has raised an impressive total of £4,000, though he still aims to increase this over the coming weeks.
Training for the past 2 years has tested his endurance, dedication and family to the limits! His wife, Dawn and 3 children have supported him every step of the way and watched his progress online.
“This was a truly spectacular and memorable experience in one of the world’s most famous environments, the Sahara Desert. It is not an event for elite athletes, but instead a test of an individuals determination under extreme conditions. The sense of achievement is second to none thought I am now looking forward to having some quality weekends with my family.”
